O There Summertime

Harmonie St. Caecilia Ven-Zelderheide/Ottersum celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2019. Especially for this occasion, the orchestra played with the idea of having a custom piece written. The piece is based on local stories, monuments from Ven-Zelderheide and Ottersum. The title also contains a nod to Ottersum.

In 2020, Els reworked the piece for the more common conventions of concert band works and provided some additional insights into the summer of this year, a summer that looked very different than expected given the Covid-19 measures.
