Tetraktys
€149.00
Tetraktys was written for the Ghent University Harmony GUHO on the occasion of their tenth anniversary. This anniversary is shared with conductor Dimitri Bracke, who has held the baton over the orchestra with great enthusiasm since the beginning.
The choice of the Tetraktys as a source of inspiration has several reasons. For Klaas Coulembier, since this is a band of university students, it seemed appropriate to refer to an old philosopher who was also important for music: Pythagoras. In his writings we learn that the number 10 is a special number because it is the sum of the first four natural numbers. This is reflected in the symbol of the Tetraktys, a triangle made up of four lines of points with 1, 2, 3 and 4 elements respectively.
