Thrasiliaco (wind band)

Scholars disagree about the explanation of the name “Deerlijk”. According to the most authoritative among them, M. Gysseling, the name Deerlijk is a Gallo-Roman settlement name, namely Thrasiliaco, derived from the personal name Trasilos (the energetic).
Deerlijk would then mean 'settlement belonging to Trasilos'. The oldest spellings that we find in documents are 'derlike' (1070) and 'tresleca' (1111).
First execution of the work
Thrasiliaco was first performed on July 7, 2013 under the direction of the composer Hannes Vanlancker at Lokaal de Liere in Deerlijk. The following orchestras took part in the festival on Sunday:
- Royal Fanfare Art-Veredelt Gullegem
- Royal Fanfare Sint-Cecilia Heestert
- Royal Fanfare Peace and Unity Kachtem
- Royal Fanfare Sint-Cecilia De Zwaan Lichtervelde
- Royal Fanfare Sint-Cecilia Vichte
Together with the Royal Fanfare Sint-Cecilia Deerlijk, 6 fanfares jointly organized the premiere of the festive march.
