Thrasiliaco (wind band)

Scholars disagree about the explanation of the name “Deerlijk”. According to the most authoritative among them, M. Gysseling, the name Deerlijk is a Gallo-Roman settlement name, namely Thrasiliaco, derived from the personal name Trasilos (the energetic).
Deerlijk would then mean 'settlement belonging to Trasilos'. The oldest spellings that we find in documents are 'derlike' (1070) and 'tresleca' (1111).
