6 Little Sketches for 1 Great Man
Composed by Steven Verhaert, Klaas Coulembier, Jan Hadermann, Jan Van der Roost, Tom Hondeghem & Bart Picqueur, in Memoriam Dirk De Caluwe (1956-2020).
The composition Caleidoscope is a tribute to the very versatile musician Dirk De Caluwé, born in Lokeren on June 25, 1956 and unfortunately died on March 8, 2020 after a short battle with cancer.
Dominic Reynders and Kristof Aerts, Dirk's last master's students in HaFaBra conducting, took the initiative in 2020 to unite six composers and have a special composition written together as a tribute to Dirk. The composition was given the title Kaleidoscope and was written especially for Dominic and Kristof's final exams. The six composers who committed themselves are: Steven Verhaert (Introduzione), Klaas Coulembier (Avanti, Avanti!), Jan Hadermann (Broken Chorale), Jan Van der Roost (Elegía del Recuerdo), Tom Hondeghem (Contrasting Layers) and Bart Picqueur (Ex cinere suo).
In consultation with the composers and publisher, the entire proceeds from the sale will go to Stand up against Cancer.
