Den Grimme Aelling

Composer Jacob Surdiacourt wrote this fantasy based on the well-known fairy tale “The Ugly Duckling” or “The Ugly Young Duckling” by the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen from 1843.

Things go wrong from the moment the duckling hatches from its egg. All the other ducks think it's too ugly and too big. After a while, even his own mother no longer knows what to do with him. The duckling feels so rejected that it goes out into the wide world. But even then the bullying continues and the duck starts to doubt itself more and more.
