Winter Has Passed (Windband)

99.00

“Winter Has Passed” is a long last breath of winter. During this breath, winter takes the time to reflect in peace before peacefully passing on to its own 'hibernation'. The composition starts with a colorful winter atmosphere, after which it moves on to an arrangement of a work by Jacobus Clemens non Papa: 'That Winter is Gonen'.

The work then flows into another winter colour, with musical references to the previous section. In the final notes, winter exhales its final breath and spring can awaken.

Various instruments from the brass band are given the opportunity to put their instrument in the spotlight. The brass section as a whole gives the winter sound the necessary warmth. In contrast to this is the use of the vibraphone and the chimes, which as an opposite help shape the cool sound of winter, without becoming chilly. The intention is that the work exudes a certain heaviness and tranquility with the necessary attention to musical movements, but without sounding aggressive.
